How to Forage in Build a Garden Tower
One clean loop after you sell — luck is a multiplier, not a magnet.
Foraging is the luck roll that puts plants into your greenhouse without a shop restock. It is also the feature players waste the most: they walk nodes with a full storage bar, then buy x2 Forage Luck hoping the pass will invent a drop that never had room to land. This page is the hunt loop. Ranking those finds belongs on the tier list. Keeping or selling them belongs on rare plants.
There is no public drop table. Evil Penguinz has not published percentages for Update 6 cherry blossoms, torii pieces, or pond plants. Anyone quoting exact odds without an in-game index is guessing. Watch the tooltip and the HUD cash-per-second instead.
What forage actually is
Forage is a world prompt on and around your garden. You walk, you interact, you get a luck roll. It is not:
- A second shop tab.
- A combat gather node from Garden Tower Defense.
- A way to steal another player’s plants. Servers hold six people; their fruit is not yours.
- An offline ticker. You must be in the experience.
x2 Forage Luck (199 Robux as of 7 September 2026) doubles that luck for the life of the pass. Display text on the store: “x2 luck for foraging.” It does not reveal hidden nodes, does not auto-walk, and does not collect fruit. Auto collect is a different pass.
The only forage order that works
- Sell fruit. Unsold harvest occupies the same storage cap as forage finds. A yellow bar is a closed door.
- Check storage. Forage when the bar is under about two-thirds. If you overflow every session even after selling, read crates and storage before you buy luck.
- Walk one loop. Edges, water features, arches, tree lines, and any marked node. Official gardens show koi-style ponds and torii — those are also the places players naturally wander. Stop after one loop. A second lap with a filling bar is a costume.
- Place or sell immediately. A find sitting in inventory still occupies cap. If the tooltip does not beat your worst plot, do not keep it as a trophy on the walking lane.
- Stop. Luck is not a second Auto Collect ticker. Go back to planting and floors.
Speed Coil (9 Robux) only shortens the walk on a tall tower. Buy luck before coil if you are choosing between them and your plots are already full. Buy neither if floor one still has empty glass — fill with starter plants first.
When the 199 Robux pass is worth it
Buy x2 Forage Luck when all of these are true:
- Every current plot is filled with an income crop.
- You already forage every session, not once a week.
- Storage is not the reason drops miss. You sell first.
- You can name the weak plot the next rare will replace.
Skip it when:
- You are still on the $1/s starter shed.
- You have not bought a tower floor you can plant the same day.
- You wanted auto-harvest. That is Auto Collect Fruits (FOREVER) at 99 Robux, a two-minute tick, listed on the game pass catalog.
The game pass planner ranks Collect > Storage > Luck > Coil. Luck is third because empty plots and a jammed bar waste a multiplier.
What to do with a forage plant
Keep it if at least one is true:
- Tooltip income beats the crop you will replace.
- It is forage-only or crate-only and you cannot buy it in the cheap row.
- You have a dedicated themed floor and cash-per-second is already healthy.
Sell or skip if it is huge, blocks collection, or is “rare” only because the restock was empty of cheap plants. The Day 7 courtyard in official art is allowed after the rate supports it. Copying that screenshot on day two is how forage becomes clutter.
Forage versus crates versus shop
Three legal ways a plant enters the account:
| Source | When to use | Storage rule |
|---|---|---|
| Shop restock | You can afford it and a test plot is free | Always |
| Forage | After selling, one loop | Under ~2/3 |
| Crates | After forage, if you still have room | Under ~1/2 |
Do not open crates in the middle of a forage loop. Do not buy a restock you cannot plant because a forage find might be prettier. Test one plot; wait a cycle; read the HUD.
Update 6 and themed nodes
The live icon still reads UPDATE 6 (platform timestamp 1 September 2026): pagoda roof, cherry blossoms, red torii, tulips, indoor pond. Themed props crowd the visual language. They do not automatically out-earn compact trays. After a numbered update, loot tables often skew toward the new set — skim Update 6 notes so you do not spend a week chasing last patch’s flex plant.
If a YouTube thumbnail promises “rarest plant OP” and the video is Garden Tower Defense (Tomato DPS, Gerald Gnome, Seeds), it is the wrong game. The only dedicated gameplay clip we verified for this tycoon is on Getting Started.
A 15-minute forage session
- Check codes (ten seconds, even when the table is empty).
- Sell.
- Fill any empty plots so the hunt is not your only production.
- One forage loop.
- Place or sell the find.
- Open one crate only if storage still has room.
- Screenshot cash-per-second. If it did not move, you decorated.
Foraging is an accelerator. It is not a second game. If the walk is more fun than the rate, you are sightseeing — which is valid, as long as you know the HUD will not climb because you admired a pond.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions.
How do I forage in Build a Garden Tower?
Sell first, then walk plot edges and marked nodes and use the world prompt. x2 Forage Luck only multiplies the roll.
Why did forage give me nothing?
Full storage, a dry luck roll, or you never found the prompt. Clear inventory, walk one more loop, then stop. RNG is allowed to miss.
Should I buy x2 Forage Luck first?
No. Fill plots and fix storage first. Luck is third on the pass planner after Auto Collect and +200 Storage.
Can I forage on a friend's tower?
No. Other players can visit the six-person server. Their plants and harvest stay on their account.
