How to Make Money in Build a Garden Tower

Raise the HUD rate. Ignore the courtyard until the rate actually moves.

Make Money Fast

Money in Build a Garden Tower is not a quest reward. It is a rate. Official art screams $1/s → $67,343,101/s. Your job is to move the first number. Every purchase should answer: does this raise cash-per-second, raise plot count, or raise the odds of a better plant? If the answer is “it looks like a torii,” wait.

This page assumes you already planted something. If the greenhouse is still empty, finish Getting Started first.

Rule 1: sell on a clock

Fruit in storage is not cash. A full storage bar also blocks forage and crate rewards. Sell whenever you pass the sell prompt, not only when you feel rich. Auto Collect Fruits (FOREVER) (every 2 minutes) makes this worse if you AFK without selling — you will wake up to a jammed bar and a rate that stopped climbing.

If you own Auto Collect, pair it with a sell habit every few ticks. If you do not, harvest and sell in the same lap around the floor.

Rule 2: plots beat petals

A new floor is more plots. More plots are more plants. More plants are more cash-per-second. That is the entire tower upgrade argument, restated because players still buy a fountain first.

Buy the next floor as soon as the upgrade is affordable and you can plant the new plots the same session. An empty new floor is a flex, not an income strategy.

Rule 3: cheap repeaters before trophy plants

The shop restocks. Some plants are pretty, slow, and expensive. Some are boring and print fruit. Until your rate is comfortable, fill with the boring ones. Rank roles on the plant tier list and the starter plants list:

  • S / A for income: fast harvest, cheap, stackable across a floor.
  • B: fine as a one-off if it also looks nice.
  • C / skip: huge model, slow cycle, bought because it was “rare” in the restock.

We do not publish fake $/s for each crop. Read the in-game tooltip and compare it to your current HUD rate. If the tooltip is worse than what you already grow, skip the restock.

Rule 4: crates are a budget line, not a personality

The official description tells you to max crates. That does not mean open them into a full inventory. Set a rule: never open a crate unless storage is under ~70%. Crate plants that you cannot place should be sold or stored only if they beat your worst plot.

Rule 5: forage with empty pockets

Forage luck is wasted when storage is full. Clear fruit, then forage. x2 Forage Luck is a multiplier on that roll, not a substitute for walking the nodes. Spend the rare on a plot that replaces your weakest crop, then read rare plants before you chase a second copy.

A simple session script (30 minutes)

  1. Sell everything.
  2. Check codes (ten seconds).
  3. Fill empty plots with the best affordable restock.
  4. If a floor is affordable, buy it and fill it.
  5. Collect → sell → collect.
  6. Forage once.
  7. Open crates only if storage allows.
  8. Screenshot cash-per-second so you know the session worked.

If the screenshot is unchanged, you decorated or you stood still without Auto Collect.

Robux versus time

Four passes exist. Only two print money:

  • Auto Collect Fruits — time. Pays off if you AFK in-game.
  • x2 Forage Luck — rares. Pays off after the starter floor is full.
  • +200 Storage — prevents lost rewards. Pays off when you already overflow every session.
  • Speed Coil — comfort. Buy last.

The game pass planner expands that ranking. Do not buy all four on day one; the free loop still climbs.

What does not make money

  • Copying Garden Tower Defense seed codes.
  • Scripts that promise infinite cash. Read scripts for the safety version of that sentence.
  • Hosting six friends. They cannot harvest for you.
  • Building a Day 7 courtyard on a $1/s HUD.

When the rate finally moves, put the extra cash into the next floor, then into one rare, then stop. Greed in the shop is how tycoons stall. Check Update 6 after patches in case a restock table changed, then come back to this script.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How do I raise cash-per-second quickly?

Fill every plot, sell on a clock, and buy the next floor before cosmetics. Then replace your worst crop with a better restock.

Should I AFK to earn?

Only if you own Auto Collect and you sell between ticks. Otherwise standing still does not harvest.

Are crates better than the shop?

Crates are RNG on top of the shop. Open them with storage headroom; do not skip planting while you wait on a box.

Does x2 Forage Luck print cash?

Indirectly. It improves rare finds, which can replace weak plots. It does not add a second cash ticker.
