Getting Started in Build a Garden Tower

Turn the $1/s starter greenhouse into a tower that actually grows.

Getting Started

You spawn in a small glass house on a green plot. Official art labels that shed $1/s. Your job is not to make it pretty on day one. Your job is to fill plots, sell fruit, and buy another floor so the next session starts above that floor. This walkthrough is the first hour of that plan.

The clip below is the only dedicated Build a Garden Tower gameplay video we verified — RowdeeGames, about five minutes, showing a real session rather than a Defense or Obby namesake. Watch it once, then follow the checklist so you are not copying decorations you cannot afford.

Minute 0–10: learn the three verbs

Plant. Open the shop or seed tray and put the cheapest crop on every empty plot. Empty glass is wasted cash-per-second. Do not wait for a rare restock on minute three.

Collect. Walk into fruit or use the collect prompt. The paid Auto Collect Fruits (FOREVER) pass fires every two minutes; without it you must physically harvest. Speed Coil helps on larger floors later, not in the starter shed.

Sell. Convert fruit into cash. Unsold fruit still occupies storage. Sell often in the first hour so you can see cash-per-second tick up on the HUD.

If any of those three buttons is missing, you are in the Roblox menu, not the experience. Rejoin from the game page.

Minute 10–25: fill, do not theme

Official “Day 1” art is a single fruit tree. “Day 7” is a courtyard with arches, roses, and a fountain.

Official Build a Garden Tower screenshot: Day 1 fruit tree versus a Day 7 courtyard Players copy the courtyard too early and stall. Fill every starter plot with income plants first. The starter plants page explains which shop rows belong in that first pass.

While you wait on growth:

  • Redeem anything listed on the codes hub. Even an empty list is worth a ten-second check.
  • Join the Evil Penguinz group from the links hub. Group gifts, if they appear, require membership first.
  • Note your storage bar. If it is already yellow, sell before you forage.

Minute 25–45: buy space, not a pagoda

The moment cash covers a tower upgrade, buy it. Extra floors are extra plots. Extra plots beat a decorative torii that earns nothing. The tower upgrade guide is the longer version of this rule; here you only need the first purchase.

After the floor drops:

  1. Plant the new plots immediately.
  2. Keep one walking lane so you can collect without jumping through glass.
  3. Do not fill the new floor with the rarest (and slowest) plant in the shop. Mix cheap producers with one experiment slot.

Minute 45–60: forage once, then log off clean

Foraging is how rares enter the account. Do one short forage loop at the end of the hour, not the beginning, so you have storage headroom. x2 Forage Luck doubles luck if you own the pass; it does not create a forage button. If you cannot find the forage prompt, finish the how to play HUD tour after this page.

Before you leave:

  • Sell leftover fruit.
  • Open crates only if storage will survive the contents.
  • Screenshot your cash-per-second. That number is your only honest progress metric. Official endgame art flashes $67,343,101/s; you will not hit that tonight, and that is fine.

Progress saves. Tomorrow you should spawn in the same greenhouse with the same plants. If you do not, you joined a different place ID — confirm the URL still says Build a Garden Tower by Evil Penguinz, not Garden Tower Defense.

Common first-hour mistakes

Decorating the roof. Pagoda roofs and cherry-blossom props are for later themed floors. They are not income.

Ignoring sell. A full storage bar stops forage rewards. Sell on a timer if you have to.

Buying every restock. The tier list exists because the shop will show plants that look rare and earn less than a cheap repeater. Skip anything you cannot explain in one sentence.

AFK without Auto Collect. Without the pass, standing still does not harvest. Either walk the plots or buy the pass after you understand the loop — see the game pass planner.

Copying Defense guides. Tomato DPS and Gerald Gnome do not exist here. If a video mentions waves, Seeds, or maps, it is the wrong game.

What to read second

If cash is the bottleneck, go to make money. If plots are the bottleneck, go to tower upgrades. If the HUD still feels like a mystery, go to how to play. Keep the codes hub bookmarked for the next numbered update.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions.

How long is the first session?

Plan on one hour: fill plots, sell, buy the first extra floor, then forage once. Progress saves if you quit earlier.

Do I need Auto Collect on day one?

No. Walk the plots. Buy Auto Collect later if you AFK; the pass ticks every two minutes.

Why is my cash-per-second still $1?

Empty plots or unsold fruit. Fill glass, sell, then buy a floor. Decorations do not raise the HUD number.

Which YouTube video is this?

RowdeeGames' Build a Garden Tower. Roblox session. It is the verified gameplay clip for this tycoon, not a Defense tutorial.
