Update 6.5 Notes

Update 6.5 is a content patch that landed after Update 6, introducing three new interlocking systems: a gem currency, a rotating trader shop, and a quest tracker. Unlike Update 6 which was visual (pagoda theme), Update 6.5 changes the economy loop. This page is the verified snapshot for what those systems actually do.

What Update 6.5 added

Based on the Roblox experience page and community reports:

  • Gems — A new secondary currency earned through gameplay, separate from cash. Gems drop from forage, crates, and quests.
  • Rotating Trader Shop — A new NPC or interface that trades gems for exclusive plants, cosmetics, and tower skins. Unlike the regular shop, the trader refreshes on a schedule.
  • Quests — A new task system with objectives like “sell 10 harvests” or “forage 5 times.” Completing quests rewards gems or bonus items.
  • 7 new plants added to the pool.
  • 2 new cosmetics (likely themed around the Update 6 pagoda set).
  • 1 new Tower skin — a visual upgrade for the greenhouse structure itself.

Gems and what they change

Before Update 6.5 the only currency was cash. Every decision was cash-in, cash-out. Gems add a parallel track:

CurrencyEarned fromSpent on
CashSelling fruitFloors, cheap plants, passes
GemsForage, crates, questsTrader exclusive items, rare plants, skins

If you were already running a tight storage hygiene loop (sell before foraging, open crates with headroom), gems will accumulate passively. If you were ignoring forage, the gem floor is new motivation to walk the loop.

The x2 Forage Luck pass may now affect gem drop rates as well as plant drops. Confirm in-game if the tooltip updated.

The rotating trader

The trader shop is the gem sink that Update 6.5 was missing. When a player has too much cash and no plot space, they buy floors. When they have too many gems and nothing to spend them on, the trader solves that failure mode.

What the trader stocks:

  • Exclusive plants unavailable in the regular shop.
  • Tower skins (the new one from this patch).
  • Cosmetics like themed props or unlock variants.

The trader rotates on a timer — community reports suggest daily or every few hours. Check the trader before spending gems on a regular shop restock if the item might appear in the next rotation.

Quest system basics

Quests give direction to players who were just decorating. Common quest types:

  • “Harvest X times” — encourages regular selling.
  • “Forage X times” — rewards the luck loop.
  • “Buy a floor” — pushes upgrade behavior.
  • “Earn X cash in one session” — rewards productivity.

Quests stack. Complete five at once for a bigger gem bonus than doing them one at a time. If you log in and do a full session (sell, forage, upgrade), you will complete most daily quests in one pass.

What to do after joining Update 6.5

  1. Rejoin to get the current client version.
  2. Check if a gem counter appeared on your HUD (usually near cash or as a separate icon).
  3. Walk to the new trader location. Note what is in stock.
  4. Open the quest panel (check the usual menu or HUD button).
  5. Run one sell-and-forage loop to test gem drops.
  6. Compare trader prices to regular shop before spending gems.

What Update 6.5 does not change

  • The core loop is still: buy plant, grow, harvest, sell, upgrade.
  • Cash is still the primary currency for floors and passes.
  • Six players per server is unchanged.
  • No new game mode, PvP, or wave system.
  • Auto Collect still ticks every 2 minutes.

How Update 6.5 affects the tier list

Seven new plants entered the pool. Some may be trader-exclusive. Rank new plants the same way:

  1. Put one in a test plot.
  2. Wait one growth cycle.
  3. Compare tooltip to your current worst producer.
  4. Clone winners, skip losers.

If a new plant is gem-only and the tooltip beats your cash buys, treat gems as a new progression resource. The game pass planner may need a column for gem value versus cash value.
